Glossary

These terms were mentioned in Surfari and we thought you'd like some further explanation of what they mean.

 

 Neural Connections - neurons communicate with one another by sending messages out from the axons and receiving information in from the dendrites; this combination of neurons communicating with one another is known as neural connections; the communication between the dendrites and axons takes place across a space called the synapse

Neuron - this word actually means "nerve cell"; in any case, it is a cell in the brain and consists of three parts: the cell body, the dendrites (which take information into the neuron), and the axon (which sends information out from the neuron)

Pituitary Gland - this is located in the center of the head and produces a bunch of hormones, including the growth hormone, that are released into the blood steam

Prior Learning - knowledge which you already have, and that can serve as a beginning step for learning something new

Summarize - to concisely explain the main ideas or main points in your own words
