Procedural Storage
Procedural Storage: Good for remembering rules, processes, systems
- Use music. Think of a song you know and change the words to the process you are trying to remember - you will remember it because the music and rhythm help you pair the process.
- Use a story. Story memory is the only kind of memory that does not have to go through short-term memory. In other words, you don’t have to memorize it. So make up a story.
- Act it out. Come up with some kind of movement to link it to - connect it to a play on the ice or something like it. Motor memory is very strong in some kids.
- Draw the process in a way that is fun and interesting - the visual/kinesthetic connection will help it stick in your memory.
- Explain it or teach it to someone else.
